Last weekend, I visited Hakusa Sonso villa for the first time. Everybody was waiting for the typhoon to come, but the weather was really nice, like an Indian summer in Europe.
Located just on the path leading to Ginkaku-ji temple with its crowds, the garden was surprisingly quiet and peaceful. The villa was the residence of Hashimoto Kansetsu (1883–1945), Nihonga style painter. Here is his studio :
