To finish my story about the dolls of Gallery Ningyo Tomo, I'd like to mention some interesting points about their making process..
Their bodies are made of seashell powder combined with natural glue. Their eyes are made of high-quality glass used in production of artificial human eyes (!) and their hair are actually natural human hair..
You have a choice to buy a doll already dressed up, or without clothes. In that case, you can participate in a workshop in Studio Tomo in Nara and have fun preparing a kimono or Western-style dress for it by yourself. Just beware of becoming an addict ^^
The gallery is holding an autumn exhibition until 30 November. Maybe it will be a good occasion for you to visit it? ^^
