One day, I was walking down Ebisugawa street in search of interesting shops, and suddenly I noticed curious metal bowls in id Gallery window. I decided to enter and to have a look.
The items exposed appeared to be orin, the singing bowls. When you strike them with a small mallet, they vibrate producing pleasant sound.
Until that day, I always thought that you can find the singing bowls only in temples or buddhist altars, but I was wrong ^^
The orin maker Masako-san explained me that nowadays people use these bowls for relaxation, meditation and well-being. They seem to be especially popular among women.
Each bowl is made by hand, and every bowl has its own sound.
